ENTREPRENEURSHIP MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT CELL

Women constitute half of the population of the State and they have been entering in every field of economic activities. The Government of Tamil Nadu is aware of the fact that women entrepreneur should get due priority for their economic development as well as to meet the ends of social justice. To encourage the woman entrepreneurs as well as to generate employment among the women, with the objective of nurturing entrepreneurial culture among the students of the College to encourage unemployed youth in the region to take up self-employment as their career, the Entrepreneurship Management And Development Cell (EMD cell) has been established in the College. The main functions of EMD Cell are: (i) to create an entrepreneurial culture in the institution, (ii) to organize Entrepreneurship Awareness Campus and Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, (iii) to provide guidance and escort services to prospective entrepreneurs, (iv) to organize skill development training programmes for unemployed youth in the region.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES ARE

1. To motivate the potentiality of the enterprising students.
2. Enable the students to realize their latent potential and develop them in Entrepreneurial capabilities, skills and competencies.
3. Giving them a fair idea about operational aspects of SMES.
4. Helping them to start a new venture.
5. Inculcate among students entrepreneurial spirit and qualities so that they can contribute to the efficiencies and growth of their enterprises.
6. Provide them an opportunity to interact extensively formal and informal sittings with leading Entrepreneurs and achievers.

1. One Week Women Entrepreneurship Development programme sponsored by TIIC was conducted in Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for women from 16.10.2003 to 22.10.2003.This programme was inaugurated by Thiriu.S.Rajaratinum, IAS, Managing Director, SIDCO, Chennai.Total number of 53 participants from various places got benefited out it.
2. Entreneurship Awareness Camp sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, GOI was conducted in Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for women campus from 16.10.2003 to 18.10.2003.This programme was also inaugurated by Thiru.S.Rajaratinum, IAS, Managing Director, SIDCO, Chennai.Total number of 129 students from Final year B.E participated and they got benefited out it.
3. One Month Product Process Entrepreneurship Development programme was conducted in Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for women premises from 11.11.2003 to 10.12.2003,Inaugurated by Thiru.Omkumar, IAS, CEO-TTM, Special Officer-EDI, Chennai. Various areas such as Simple chemicals, food products, PCB designing, Cell phone service, Solar products, VermiCompost, Welding Workshop and Tailoring were offered by various experts from several organization.
